We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to help us understand how the app is used and to identify issues. This data includes:

App version and device model (Android version, screen resolution)
Generic event counters (e.g., number of times a feature is used)
Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics for debugging purposes

This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify you personally. It is used solely to improve app stability, fix bugs, and guide development priorities.

1.2 Advertising Data

Muvix displays advertisements through the Unity Ads SDK to support the free service. Unity Ads may collect certain device-level information such as your advertising identifier (AAID), IP address, device type, and operating system version to serve relevant ads. Unity Ads operates under its own Privacy Policy, and we encourage you to review it for details on how ad data is handled.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device's "Limit Ad Tracking" setting (Android Settings > Google > Ads). This does not remove ads from the app but limits how advertisers target them.

2. Local Storage

The following data is stored exclusively on your device using Android DataStore and does not leave your phone:

Watch history — titles you have viewed and your playback progress
Favorites and watchlist — content you have saved for later
Recent searches — your last 10 search queries for convenience
App preferences — language, theme, and player settings

We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers. Clearing the app's data or cache through Android Settings will permanently delete all locally stored information.

3. Third-Party Services

When you stream content through Muvix, you are connecting directly to third-party video hosting servers. We do not control these servers, and their own privacy policies govern how they handle your connection. We recommend exercising the same caution you would when visiting any external website.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website (muvix.org) may use minimal technical cookies necessary for the site to function correctly. We do not use tracking pixels, social media tracking scripts, or third-party analytics cookies on our website. No personal data is collected through website cookies.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous analytics data collected through Firebase is retained for up to 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Ad-related data retention is governed by Unity Ads' privacy policy. Locally stored data on your device persists until you manually clear it or uninstall the app.

6. Children's Privacy

Muvix is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@muvix.org and we will take steps to delete such information.
