Muvix respects the intellectual property rights of content creators and rights holders. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable international copyright laws, we have established the following policy to address copyright concerns.
1. Nature of the Service
Muvix is a search and aggregation tool for streaming content. The application does not host, upload, store, or transmit any movies, TV shows, or video files on its own servers or within the application package. Instead, Muvix indexes publicly available streaming links from across the internet and presents them in an organized, searchable interface — functioning similarly to how a general search engine indexes web pages.
When a user selects content to watch, the video is streamed directly from the third-party hosting server, not from Muvix. We have no control over, and do not store copies of, the content served by these external hosts.
2. Content Reporting System
Muvix includes a built-in content reporting feature that allows users to flag broken, misleading, or problematic content directly within the app. When content receives multiple verified failure reports, it is automatically blocked from appearing in search results and browse listings for all users. This system helps maintain the quality and reliability of the content available through the app.
Blocked content entries are subject to an automatic expiry period of 30 days, after which they may be re-evaluated if the underlying source has been fixed or updated.
3. DMCA Takedown Requests
Because Muvix does not host media files, we cannot remove content from the internet at its source. However, if you are a copyright owner or an authorized representative and believe that a specific indexed link within our application infringes upon your rights, you may submit a DMCA takedown request to have that link removed from our index.
How to Submit a Request
Send a formal DMCA notice to our legal team via the Contact page (select "DMCA / Legal" as the topic) or directly to legal@muvix.org. Your notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
- The specific URL or content identifier within Muvix that you wish to have removed
- Your contact information (name, email address, and if applicable, organization)
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
- Your physical or electronic signature
Upon receiving a valid and complete DMCA notice, we will promptly remove the specified link from our index. We may also block the entire source domain if it is found to be predominantly hosting infringing content.
4. Counter-Notifications
If you believe that your content was incorrectly removed as a result of a DMCA takedown request, you may submit a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include your identification, the specific content that was removed, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the removal was erroneous, and your consent to jurisdiction. Valid counter-notifications will be reviewed, and removed content may be restored to our index.
5. Safe Harbor
Muvix seeks to benefit from the safe harbor provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) and equivalent international laws. As a service that links to content rather than hosting it, Muvix qualifies for these protections provided it responds expeditiously to valid takedown notices and does not have actual knowledge of infringing activity.
6. User Responsibility
Users of Muvix are solely responsible for ensuring that their use of content accessed through the app complies with the copyright laws of their respective jurisdictions. Muvix does not encourage, endorse, or facilitate copyright infringement. We encourage all users to support content creators by accessing content through official and licensed channels whenever possible.
